REVIEW- Riding High

Riding HighRiding High by Vicki Lewis Thompson

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

I’ve read a couple of the Harlequin Blaze imprints lately. They are quick, emotionally unbinding stories that are high in sexsual aspects. Although I can’t say they are my favorite kind of read, they offer a great little escape from more dramatic storylines.

Lily King is an eccentric, somewhat free spirt that doesn’t live by many rules. Her Esquestrian Rescue Facilty unfortunately is run the same way her life is, which only results in a big mess.

“Secretly anguished” vet, Regan O’Connelli, offers to help her get the rescue opperation under control and they end up helping one another work through their own personal issues.

I really wanted to like this story, because I loved both the characters. Unfortunately, the storyline just didn’t hold up for me. I felt the dialogue between the two main characters was either witty and cute or somewhat cheesy and out of place. And there was a whole slew of outside characters that were brought in for a short time that offered insight that I felt brought nothing to the story. It was like a whole load of information was dropped, giving a background of a family that didn’t have much part in this particular story. I understand this is a series and those characters may have been the object of storeis past or may be a future story, however, it was weirdly introduced and at length. It wasn’t terrible, but in my opinion could have been tidied up a bit.
